The California Poppy's colors can be yellow, orange,purple , or white. The California Poppy has Four petals in total. The flowers receptacle is pink in color and is in the form of a small cup which contains the nectar and pollen. The California Poppy is wide , so it is easier for birds to drink the nectar. The height can be four to twelve inches and the width could be four to eight inches apart in all directions.
The California Poppy grows as a annual all over northern America. They are found in the coast and foothills of California. It is found along the entire western coast of the U.S.A, as far north as Washington state and as far south as Mexico. The California Poppy is a native plant meaning it was always found in the U.S.A, but in California, hence the name.
The California Poppy is edible because of it petals and seeds. Edible means it is able to be eaten. Native Americans cooked the seeds with hot rocks and their bold baskets. The Native American ate the California Poppy in order not to suffer from starvation.

Native Americans used the California Poppy when they had trouble sleep, had aches, or diseases in the bladder or liver. The California Poppy is also used to promote relaxation.
